Telengana figures in President's speech

President Abdul Kalam makes a one-sentence reference of Telangana in his address to the Houses of Parliament.

"The government will consider the demand for the formation of a Telangana state at an appropriate time after due consultations."

This led TRS leaders to compare K Chandrasekhar Rao with Mahatma Gandhi !

"Gandhi led the Indian freedom struggle with non-violence and peace as weapons. Chandrashekhar Rao too led a peaceful movement for three years," said TRS MLA Nayani Narasimha Reddy and senior leader S Madhusudhanachary .

Yes, he is the same Chandrasekhar Rao who threatened a river full of blood !!

It is unfortunate that it has come to this. The telengana state, if not in the immediate future, does look inevitable.

Due to the "mis-allignment" of stars, things have gone in KCR's way for the last couple of months. Now that Venus has passed between the Earth and the Sun, I sure hope this trend is reversed.

Hi Sudha... more than a year ago, right in your presence, I've told that formation of Telangana is a matter of time.

Hyderabad belonged to Nizam area and Nizam area is associated with Telangana. Naturally it should go to Telangana. However, we shouldn't forget that it is mostly non-telanganas who have made Hyderabad what it is today.

And about your suggestion of going to idlebrain forums to vote for or against Telangana, could you please come up with a better idea! I feel I'm too sane to discuss this particular issue on IB forums (sorry, I'm immodest at times :-)) How about NDTV.. or Rediff.. or atleast Indiatimes? Anyway, now that you've suggested it, I would try to visit the site (when I'm really "idle") to get a hint of popular opinion.

Thanks! (you know in whose style ;-))

Not very sure if the President is actually entitled to speak on behalf of the government on these issues. "The government will consider the demand...". From what I understand of the President's role, he can only endorse/reject any decision by the government. Correct me if I am wrong.
